Description
Summary:Background. HIV disease is a global health problem included in particular concern of the 2010 Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The prevalence of HIV patients continues to rise in the world including in Indonesia. The number of cases of HIV and AIDS in Central Java was ranked 6 out of 33 provinces in Indonesia. Vertical transmission of HIV from mother to child is influenced by low maternal CD4 cell count. In addition, the number of CD4 cells mother classified as low or medium category is expected to have influence on maternal and neonatal outcomes during childbirth, but study on the association between the number of CD4 cells with maternal and neonatal outcomes has not been done many so that this study needs to be done. Aim. To know the association of maternal and neonatal outcomes in HIV infected maternal based on CD4 cell count at Dr. Kariadi Hospital since 2012 until 2014 as well as knowing the number of deliveries of patients with HIV infection at the Dr. Kariadi Hospital. Methods. This was descriptive analytic study with cross sectional design. Data sampling was done by collecting medical records from mothers giving birth with HIV infection in Dr. Kariadi Hospital since 2012 until 2014 and the sampling was done with consecutive sampling method. Results. The analysis showed that the association of CD4 cell counts with premature rupture of membranes, prematurity, baby weight had the same p value that was equal to 1,000. Conclusion. There was no significant association between the maternal and neonatal outcomes in HIV infected maternal based on CD4 cell count at Dr. Kariadi Hospital since 2012 until 2014. Key words: HIV, CD4, maternal, neonatal
