Prominent number of antibiotic use will give raise to microorganism resistency which complicate treatment process. Resistency rate is closely linked to the use of antibiotic. One of the most common medication error that occur is the dose emission error of nurses to the patient. If the administered dose is not accordance to the doctor's prescription, then the treatment is not optimal and vulnurable to the emergence of an antibiotic resistance. This study serves as evaluation of the use of antibiotic in order to be more selective and more controlled. Aim Evaluating the quantity use of antibiotic in Dr. Kariadi hospital Orthopaedic patient's. Method This study use observational analitic design with retrospective approach. Subject were patient's medical record in Orthopaedic Surgery Ward during July-December 2015. Antibiotic use was recorded from medical record. Result The amount of DDD/100 bed days ontibiotic that doctor prescribed is higher than DDD/100 bed days that received by patient. Ceftriaxone and cefazolin have respective percentage of 41,40% and 38,85%. The highest purpose of administration of antiboticswas Unknown (47,46%). Differences of dosage that prescribed by doctor and received by patient was 314,33 grams (31,20%) and less than prescribed by doctor. Conclusion There is discrepancies of antibiotic's quantity that prescribed by doctors and received by patients. Keyword Antibiotics quantity, Orthopaedic Surgery, medication error
