Father's role in EBF should be well prepared in order to optimizing his role. Father's knowledge on EBF is needed as a basis for the father as a breastfeeding father. The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between knowledge and father's role in EBF. This was a cross-sectional correlative design study, conducted at Sub Kemijen District in October - November 2015. The respondents were fathers of exclusive breastfeed baby/ toddler (0-2 years old). Data were collected using structural questionnaires (20 multiple_choice questions about EBF knowledge and 23 statements of father's role in EBF) with proportionate random sampling technique. Univariate data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and Chi-square test was used to analyze bivariate data. It was 60% of the total respondents (N= 100) had a good knowledge about EBF process and approximately half of them had a good role as breastfeeding father in the process. The result showed a significant relationship between knowledge and father's role in EBF (p value= 0.001, OR= 6.474). Fathers with a high level of EBF knowledge had a greater possibility to perform their good role as a breastfeeding father. To promote EBF and to achieve the success of EBF, fathers need to be educated about their roles during intranatal period.
