Description
Summary:Background: Breast cancer is malignant disease (malignancy) which had cases at 43,2% and death percentage at 12,9% among other malignant diseases in 2012 MDA is a biochemical marker which is useful to asses the cancer progression. In the last few year, the research was going on herbal medicines for cancer therapy, one of them was Gynura divaricata. Aim: to find out gynura divaricata leaf extract's effect on the MDA level in rat's blood by which breast cancer induces. Methods: This experiment-based research utilized 'post-test only control group' design. 15 Sprague Dawley® rats of female sex were divided into 3 groups randomly within a designated term of 3 months, each of the negative control group (K1) was then supplied with standard diet; meanwhile, the positive control group (K2) was likewise fed standard diet except that it (the diet) was induced by breast cancer, and lastly the treatment group (P) receiving an intake of standard diet was induced by breast cancer and was treated with gynura divaricata extract with dose 750 mg/kg of body mass index per day. On day 15, each group's blood was tested for MDA level examination. Shortly afterwards, the author established a connection between the data collected statistically using one-way ANOVA method. Results:The research shows the means of MDA blood level are 2,671(K1), 4,088(K2), and 3,233(P). Statistical analysis of MDA blood level with one way ANOVA shows the result p=0,330. Conclusions: The findings prove to have signified gynura divaricata extract's effect on MDA blood level of breast cancer-induced rats, albeit with less-significant differences as per statistical measure. Keywords: Gynura divaricata, MDA, breast cancer
