520 | |a Background: Product X is a health product made from natural herbal ingredients. Product X is formulated from: Languatis rhizoma (Galangal), Zingiberis aromaticae (Ginger), Retrofracti fructus (Cabe Jawa), Curcuma rhizoma (Temulawak). The materials contained in the Product X is believed to have effect as a pain reliever. Aim: To determine the effect of Product X extracts as an analgesic in mice. Methods: This experimental research utilized post-test only control group design. 24 adult males Balb/c mice were randomly divided into 6 groups: the negative control group (K1) were given distilled water, the positive control group (K2) were given 1.3 mg / 20 gram BB of Aspirin orally, treatment group 1 (P1) were given 0.1 mL of Product X extracts orally, treatment group 2 (P2) were given 0.35 mL of Product X extract orally. After 30 minutes, all of the mice were injected with 0.1 mL of 1% acetic acid solution intraperitoneally and then put in animal testing place. The amount of writhing of each mouse in each group were calculated every 15 minutes for 30 minutes. Results: The average amount of writhing that was obtained at 15 minutes I were 6.33 ± 2.73 (K1), 3 ± 2.61 (K2), 4.17 ± 1.6 (P1), 0.17 ± 0.41 (P2); at 15 minutes II were 5.5 ± 4.43 (K1), 1.67 ± 2.25 (K2), 2.5 ± 3.39 (P1), 0 (P2). By Mann Whitney test on the amount of writhing at 15 minutes I found significant differences between P2 and K1 (p =0.003), P2 and K2 (p = 0.004), P2 and P1 (p = 0.003); at 15 minutes II found significant differences between P2 and K1 (p = 0.002), P2 and K2 (p = 0.022), P2 and P1 (p = 0.022).
