Summary:Background: Vulvovaginal Candidiasis is an infection on vulva and/or vagina that caused by the overgrowth of fungi Candida sp., especially Candida albicans. One of the predisposition factors that is predicted to cause vulvovaginal candidiasis is the usage of hormonal contraception. Statistic data have shown that the users of contraceptive injection is 48,56%, oral contraceptive is 26,60%, and contraceptive implant is 9,23% from 8,5 million women that use contraception in Indonesia. Methods: This study is a correlative analytical research with cross sectional design, involving 51 patients of Mangkang Semarang Community Health Centre as sample that met the inclusion criteria (the user of hormonal contraception, age between 20-30 years old, having white vaginal discharge). Collected data are primary data by obtaining patients' vaginal swab and examining it through microbiologic test using gram stain in Laboratory of Dermatovenereology Kariadi Hospital Semarang. Data were analyzed by chi-square test, with significance level of p<0,05. Results of the study: Out of 51 research subject, 34 patients (66,7%) are the users of contraceptive injection, 13 patients (25,5%) are the users of oral contraceptive, and 4 patients (7,8%) are the users of contraceptive implant. There is no association between the usage of hormonal contraception and the incidence of vulvovaginal candidiasis (p=0,636). Conclusion: The type of contraception that is most widely used by society is contraceptive injection (66,7%). There is no association between the usage of hormonal contraception and the incidence of vulvovaginal candidiasis. Key Words: vulvovaginal candidiasis, hormonal contraception
