Asthma is characterized by recurrent episodic symptoms such as cough, tightness, wheezing and shortness of breath. Uncontrolled asthma symptoms can reduce children quality of life. This is due to the condition of the respiratory tract and blood pH tends to be acid. One that may affect the acidity of the blood is ionized alkaline water. Aim: To determine the children quality of life before and after drinking ionized alkaline water and to assess differences the children quality of life between before and after drinking ionized alkaline water. Methods: This study is a clinical trial using one group pre design and posttest design. Data were collected in April-May 2016. The subjects were children with asthma aged 6-14 years who had treatment at BKPM Semarang and given treatment by drinking ionized alkaline water for 14 days. Data retrievalled using PedsQL quality of life questionnaire before and after treatment. Statistical analysis was performed by using t-pairs hypothetic test. Result: The number of subjects was 36 people. The mean value of the children quality of life before and after ionized alkaline water were 71.77 ± 13.21 and 82.69 ± 10.25. The analysis showed a significant value p = 0.000 for difference quality of life before and after ionized alkaline water. Conclusion: Drinking of ionized alkaline water for 14 days had a significant relationship to improve the children quality of life with asthma.
