Summary:Nurse spiritual competence may affect the spiritual care practice. Spiritual competence of nurses has become a standard in providing practical and spiritual care services for patients. This study aims to determine the relationship between nurses spiritual competence and spiritual care practice. The study design was descriptive correlative with cross sectional method. Fifty one nurses who working in ICU were included in the study. Data were collected using a questionnaire of Spiritual Care Competence Scale (SCCS) and Nurse Spiritual Care Therapeutics Scale (NSCTS). The results showed as much as 52.9% of respondents had high spiritual competence and 51% of respondents had been practicing spiritual care well. Statistical analysis showed that there was no significant relationship between nurse spiritual competence and spiritual care practice (p-value 0.895). During treatments in Intensive Care Unit, critical patients are highly dependent on nurses to meet their spiritual needs. Therefore, the hospital should improve the nurse spiritual competence and quality of spiritual care by creating spiritual care team and giving a rewards to the nurse.
