| Summary: | People's awareness of their coming death is increasing as their birthday comes. Elderly will experience the declining functions of their biological, psychological and social features, accompanied by the arrival of various diseases. This state will raise their awareness of the impending death. Spirituality is one of the factors that can reduce their anxiety towards death. This study aims to determine the relationship between spiritual level and anxiety of death among elderly. This research is a correlation study with cross sectional approach using Daily Spiritual Experience Scale (DSES) and anxiety of death scale questionnaires. Samples in this study were 186 elderly taken using accidental sampling method. Data analysis using Spearman Rank. The results showed most of spiritual of the elderly in medium scale counted as 126 samples (62,9%) and the level of anxiety of death level in medium scale counted as 127 samples (68,3%). Statistical calculation coefficient 0,372 with p=0,000. The conclusion from this study is that there is a correlation between the spiritual level and the anxiety of death in elderly. For the elderly expected to increase spirituality such as by prayer, reading Scripture, running religious teachings and the increasingly warm relationship with the family. |
