The Advisor : Elizabeth Ika Hesti ANR, S.S., M.Hum. This researh aims to describe the structure and meaning of the modalities and explain the differences in the use of these modalities. The data in this study were taken from Mika Omori's drama titled My Boss My Hero and Japanese website. The method used to gather data in this paper is the simak-catat method. Then, to analysis the structure and meaning of darou modalities using qualitative descriptive methods. Where as to find out the differences in the usage of these modalities, agih method is used. Based on data analysis, it was concluded that darou's modality can be attached to verbs, I-adjectives, Na-adjectives, and nouns. Darou's modality expresses different meanings such as guesses, questions to oneself, doubts in the form of exclamations, opposing doubts, confirmations, confirmation of information, confirmation of memories or speaker's knowledge and compels the other person to agree, and polite questions.
