The alternative solution of this problem is using natural material, such ambon banana (Musaparadisiaca var. sapientum (L.) Kunt.) peel. Active substance content predi:' as antimicrobial are flavonoid. The purpose of this research is to know antimicrobial potency ambon banana (Musa paradisiaca var. sapientum (L.) Kunt.) peel extract. Maseration technique • used to get extract using ethanol as solvent. This research is included in laboratories experimer. research and using diffusion method. Concentrations of ambon banana peel extract used are 1%. 5 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30%, 35%, 40%, 45%, and 50%. The result of observation showed an* banana (Musa paradisiaca var. sapientum (L.) Kunt.) peel extract can inhibit the Shigella dysentr. growth start from concentration 10% until 50%. The conclusion from this research is ambon ban.; (Musa paradisiaca var. sapientum (L.) Kunt.) peel extract has antimicrobial effect toShige dysentriae with minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) is 10%.
