Background: Caries is the most common dental and oral disease in Indonesia with a prevalence of more than 80%. National Basic Health Research (RISKESDAS) in 2013 showed that the population aged 12 years and over had a caries prevalence of 53.2% with an average DMF-t score in Indonesia reaching 4.6. Boarding school as one of the places of education in Indonesia is still vulnerable in the provision of clean water and environmental sanitation that impact on personal health including oral and dental health. Objective: to know distribution of dental caries index of boarding school students in Bangsalsari district. Method: This activity was a dedication to the community funded by Kemenristekdikti, which was done in 2 Boarding school in Bangsalsari SubDistrict namely Mambaul Khoiriatul Islamiyah (MHI) and Bustanul Ulum. The number of respondents was the students of class IX as many as 31 people in Ponpes MHI and 30 people in Ponpes Bustanul Ulum. Performed Dental examination of respondents was obtained DMF-T dental caries index data. The result showed that the mean of DMF-T index at the santri of MHI boarding school was 5.03, while the mean of DMF-T index at santri of Bustanul Ulum boarding school was 5.3. The low number of filled teeth (F) showed that the knowledge and awareness of the students were low in maintaining the health of the oral cavity. Conclusion: Based on WHO criteria DMF-t index of boarding school students MHI and Bustanul Ulum were high category.
