Description
Summary:Penelitian ini meneliti tentang penerapan strategi REACT (Relating, Experiencing, Appliying, Cooperating, and Transfering) untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konses siswa sekolah dasar. This research is about how REACT strategy works to increase the elementary students comprehension bout certain concept. The aim of this research is to review the comprehension of elementary students of REACT strategy especially on mathematic about geometry. It is being researched because of the lack of student's understanding on this geometry concept. This research is done with PTK method with spiral research model from Kemmis and Taggart that is done with two cycles. The object of this research is elementary students in 5th grade in Sukajadi District, Bandung. The amounts of the participants are 39 students. The instrument used is student's concept comprehension instrument that is being self-developed based on theory. The result on cycle 1 is 94.7% students can review the concept that has been learned. For 89.5% students can classify objects based on whether the requirements are fulfill or not to formalize the concept. For 76.3% students can correlate a couple of concepts. Meanwhile on cycle II, there is 96.1% students can review the concept that has been learned. For 97.8% students can classify objects based on whether the requirements are fulfill or not to formalize the concept. For 89.4% students can correlate a couple of concepts. From the practice of cycle I and II, the comprehension of concept is increasing for about 0.55 as index gain with moderate interpretation. So that, the REACT strategy can increases the comprehension of concept among 5th grade elementary students, especially in geometry concept. The recommendations are given to teacher and researcher to be more aware of the subject suitability, time allocation, learning resources, and instructional media that suitable with the student's character in order to create the comprehension of concept on the application of REACT strategy (Relating, Experiencing, Appliying, Cooperating, and Transfering).
