520 |a Penelitian ini berawal dari keresahan peneliti terhadap permasalahan yang terjadi di kelas VII-K SMP Negeri 10 Bandung terkait dengan tingkat keaktifan dalam berdiskusi kelompok peserta didik. Permasalahan ini merupan temuan dari observasi yang dilakukan beberapa kali pertemuan ketika peneliti sedang melaksanakan pembelajaran. Indikator permasalahan yang dijumpai adalah masih kurangnya keaktifan pada saat berdiskusi kelompok dalam pembelajaran IPS, sehingga peneliti memeilih Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan desain penelitian model Kemmis & Mc Taggart yang dilakukan dalam 4 siklus. Alternatif pemecahan yang dipilih yaitu penggunaan metode problem solving. pelaksana kegiatan belajar menggunakan metode problem solving sebagai alternatif meningkatkan keaktifan peserta didik dalam berdiskusi kelompok pada pembelajaran IPS dikatakan berhasil. Adapun peningkatan keaktifan peserta didik tersebut dapat dilihat dari beberapa indikator keaktifan menjelaskan inti permasalahan, merumuskan masalah (mencari sebab-akibat) yang ditimbulkan, mengaitkan materi dengan permasalahan, mengambil keputusan metode yang akan digunakan, membuat kesimpulan dari proses metode problem solving. Seluruh aspek ini mengalami peningkatan dari siklus pertama hingga siklus keempat dari kualitas cukup baik menjadi baik. kesimpulannya penggunaan metode problem solving dapat meningkatkan keaktifan peserta didik dalam berdiskusi kelompok pada pembelajaran IPS. --- This research was begun from the problems gained by the researcher when she/he was teaching the VII-K grade students of SMPN 10 Bandung. They had lone motivation in doing group discussion. This problem was the result of preliminary study done by the researcher. The indicator of the problem was lone motivation of the students within group discussion in social instruction. Therefore the researcher emp;oyed a classroom action research model designed by Kemmis and Mc Taggarf which was done in 4 cycles. The selected alternative solution was the implementation of problem solving method. The use of problem solving method within the instructional proses as alternative solution to improve students' motivation in group discussion on social instruction was success. Furthermore, the improvement of students' motivation could be seen in some motivation indicators those were, explaining the core problem, stating the incoming problem (finding cause and effect), relating the material to the problem, deciding method will be used, making conclusion from problem solving method proses. All those aspects improve from cycle 1 to cycle 4, from good quality to be very good, the conclusion is the implementation of problem solving method can improve students' motivation in group discussion on social instruction.
