Description
Kata Kunci: Strategi REACT (Relating, Experiencing, Applying, Cooperating and Transfering), Aktivitas dan Hasil Belajar Siswa, Mata Pelajaran IPA This study investigates the employment of REACT (Relating, Experiencing, Applying, Cooperating and Transfering) strategy in developing students learning activity and outcomes in the science subject. This study was conducted in one of elementary schools in Bandung where 24 students from its IVA class were the research subject. This study have several aims which are (1) to investigate the learning process of the 4th grade elementary school students using REACT strategy in order to improve their learning activity and outcomes particularly in the science subject; (2) to investigate the progress of the 4th grade elementary students' learning activity in science subject using REACT strategy; (3) to investigate the progress of the 4th grade elementary students' learning outcomes in science subject using REACT strategy. The poor learning outcomes and the low involvement of students' in learning activities such as visual activity, oral activity, writing activity, listening activity, and emotional activity in the science subject are the reasons of why this study was conducted at the first place. This is proved by the data where the students' learning activity are only 43% and there are only 33% students who achieve the minimum requirement to pass. Therefore, a classroom action research which employs Kemmis and McTaggart model with three cycle was conducted in order to solve the problem. After the study was conducted, the result shows improvements in students' learning activity and outcomes. In cycle I, students' learning activity is 60, 86% which gradually increase in to 73, 88%, and 92, 62% in cycle II and cycle III. On the other hand, there are also improvements in the percentage of student who achieve the minimum requirement to pass which are 46% in cycle I, 75% in cycle II, and 86% in cycle III where the minimum requirement of 70. Hence, this study shows that REACT strategy can improve students' learning activity and outcomes.
