Summary:Penelitian berjudul "The Use of Fairytale Films in Teaching Narrative Writing" bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah penggunaan film fairytale dapat membantu meningkatkan kemampuan menulis siswa atau tidak serta untuk mengetahui respon dari siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain kuasi-eksperimental dimana dua kelas dari kelas 8 di sebuah sekolah di Bandung dipilih sebagai grup eksperimen dan grup kontrol. Tes dan kuesioner digunakan sebagai tekhnik pengumpulan data. Dua jenis tes digunakan yaitu pretest dan posttest. Data yang berasal dari tes akan dinilai berdasarkan rubrik penilaian yang dibuat oleh Jacob, et al. (1981) dan nilai tersebut akan dihitung menggunakan IBM SPSS 17.0 dan data yang berasal dari kuesioner akan dianalisis. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa grup eksperimen yang diberikan film fairytale sebagai perlakuan menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan dibandingkan dengan grup kontrol. Hasil dari kuesioner juga menunjukkan bahwa siswa menunjukkan ketertarikan saat perlakuan diberikan.---------- This study entitled "The Use of Fairytale Films in Teaching Narrative Writing" was aimed to know whether or not the use of fairytale films can help the students to improve their writing and to find out their responses to the teaching program. This study employed a quasi-experimental research design in which two classes of grade eight students in one junior high school in Bandung were chosen as experimental group and control group. Test and questionnaire were used as data collection techniques. Two types of tests were employed, pretest and posttest. The data from the test were scored based on the scoring rubric guideline formulated by Jacob, et al. (1981) and the scores were calculated using IBM SPSS 17.0 and the data from questionnaire were analyzed. The result showed that the experimental group that was given fairytale films as a treatment shows significant improvement compared to the control group. The result from the questionnaire also showed that the students show excitement in learning when the treatment was given.
