Summary:This study examines cognitive process in vocabulary acquisition through code-mixing phenomena by a bilingual child. The main purpose of this study is to reveal how cognitive process in vocabulary acquisition is established by a bilingual child, and describe the vocabulary that arise from that cognitive process. The method in this study uses descriptive-qualitative method to describe result of study without any manipulation in the forms of oral transcribed data. Based on the result, it has a conclusion that cognitive process in vocabulary acquisition in a child's mind by code-mixing phenomena, show that the dominant of cognitive consideration is caused by a sphere influence factor and maturity factor. Then thinking perception and reasoning in a child's mind is still in operational stage, because the biggest ratio in the result of data is a concrete word. A child more understand in lexical or contextual meaning of concrete word than abstract word. There is shown by noun that majority of noun is concrete words. Then next result of kind words is verb, adjective, adverb, particle, and pronoun. Moreover between Indonesia language and Sundanese language can be understood by a child in his mind-process, so it show that any sets of language similarity, that it called by universal grammar.---- Penelitian ini mengkaji proses kognitif dalam pemerolehan kosakata melalui fenomena code mixing anak dwibahasawan. Tujuan utama penellitian ini adalauh untuk mengungkapkan bagaimana proses kognitif dalam pemerolehan kosakata yang terjadi pada anak dwibahasawan, dan untuk mnggambarkan kosakata apa saja yang muncul dari proses kognitif ini. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif-kualitatif untuk menggambarkan hasil penelitian tanpa adanya manipulasi dalam bentuk transkrip data lisan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa proses kognitif dalam pemerolehan kosakata melalui fenomena code mixing pada seorang anak dwibahasawan muncul dengan adanya pertimbangan kognitif, yakni yang paling dominan berdasarkan hasil penelitian adalah faktor lingkungan dan faktor kematangan. Kemudian berdasarkan persepsi berfikir dan penalaran anak dalam memahami kosa kata yang diperolehnya menunjukkan dengan jelas bahwa tahap penalaran anak masih berada di tahap operasional, yakni dengan menunjukkan rasio kemunculan terbesar pada kata-kata konkret sebagai kata yang paling mudah difahami maknanya baik secara leksikal maupun kontekstual. Hal ini terlihat dengan perolehan kemunculan kata paling dominan yaitu kata benda. Kemudian pemerolehan kata selanjutnya kata kerja, kata sifat, kata keterangan, partikel, dan kata ganti Selanjutnya berdasarkan data membuktikan bahwa bahasa Indonesia maupun bahasa Sunda yang dapat difahami anak dalam mind process-nya, menunjukkan adanya perangkat kesamaan bahasa yang di sebut dengan tata bahasa universal.
